I want to be able to record the sound from my MicroKorg XL and be able to work with it in my Sonar X3 Studio. So far I was only able to control and internal synth with my keyboard but I would like to use the sound from my Korg. I have the device for a few months and I love the sound, I just want to create something now!! I am running Windows 8.1 and I have a Quadcapture card from Roland as my external input and output of sound (forgot the actual name of such device). Not very acquainted with technical abbreviations and were to find them so please make it as simple as possible.

I so want to work with the brilliant sound of my device. HELPPP!!!!

you probably need to record the audio-out from the synth into an audio input of the quad?

You will need two 1/4" jack-jack leads  (standard type instrument leads)  and a USB lead.

Connect the instrument leads from the Left/Right outputs on the Korg to the Line inputs on the Quadcapture.
Connect the USB direct to your computer.

The Korg should have come with software, make sure it is loaded correctly.
In Sonar set MIDI to use the Korg.  You should see it listed as both an input and output device)

When you want to record,  you can either record the AUDIO (what you hear) or the MIDI (what you're playing).

Right I have used one lead which I plugged into the mono output of my Korg, then plugged it into the input of my quad capture, plugged the USB in and connected to the sound editor which is the program it came with. I don't find anything in sonar? What do I need to do now?

Plus thanks everyone for helping me:D

You can use the sound editor to... Edit the sounds in the Korg...

In Sonar, set the Korg as the midi input/output device.

Set a channel to input the audio from the Korg to hear/record it.

Edit :
reading back that doesn't look very helpful, but it's a basic function of any DAW. The manual will explain it much better than I can.

I have got it so far to record the sound now from the cord from the mono output of the korg but not with the usb cable how do you set it to be the midi input since it's not a midi cable?

But thank you so so much guys
