I'm a Sonar Platinum and Music Creator user (Sonar in my studio and Music Creator on my tablet for when I'm on the road).  I just spent five hours using MC 7 and had a great time.  I do wish however the GUI on the Channel EQ was more like the gloss EQ in Sonar.  The MC EQ is so tiny with very few choices for curves.  Bakers, please help!

I agree.  IMO it's really almost unusable since you can't dial in specific frequencies and can only guess where you are in the visual band.
 
I'd recommend using a 3rd party EQ like something from Voxengo or some other inexpensive or free EQ.

I was hoping MC7 would at least include a simple 3 or 4 band parametric eq.......... Oh well.

The MFreeEffectsBundle is a decent free addon for MC.

We do still include Sonitus EQ if you are in need of an EQ with more bands, specific Q or frequency settings.
 

The sonitus EQ is an excellent tool.  that's what I'd use if I had MC7 only.  it's even better than a lot of the 3rd party freebies.

Thanks for your replies! Yes, I've been using 3rd party solutions but it's frustrating to see that little EQ sitting in the track, knowing what it can do in Sonar and not be able to do much with it in Music Creator.
 
Maybe Cakewalk could meet us halfway and provide just one EQ type and at least some better control over the bands (frequency, Q and level). Making the graph a wee bit bigger too?  Throwing in the HPF and LPF at fixed frequencies (e.g. 100Hz and 10,000 Hz) could also be another compromise.

That's what Lance is saying that they DO provide an EQ with better controls than the Channel EQ.  you have to insert it from the FX bin, tho.  go to the FX bin, right click, then choose:  INSERT AUDIO FX>DIRECTX>SONITUSFX>EQUALIZER.
 
sonitus EQ is a VERY good transparent EQ with 6 bands and EQ types including peak/dip; low & high shelf; and low and high pass.  it also includes a gain slider, you can set the frequencies either directly by typing them in, or by clicking and dragging the points on the graph.  it's an excellent EQ.
