MC7 does not have clip FX bins so dragging a plug-in to a clip makes no sense to the program. It should not crash and it did not when I dropped the only Alchemy FX I have on top of a clip (CamelCrusher). It is possible to destructively apply a plug-in by right-clicking on the clip the choosing Process Effect and follow the menu to the appropriate plug-in. Or move the clips to different tracks or use sends for different effects.
