I once had Pistol Pete comment on one of my songs, I bet you can all guess how that went.

In the 'Songs' forum here?

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”

- Mark Twain

Just because someone has resigned themselves to being mediocre and would feel better if everyone else did too, doesn't mean others can't strive for something better.

There's never a reason to be a primma donna no matter what one's talents truly are.  BTW your statement by mark twain shows twain as a narcissist.  People who thrive on the attention of others often become famous. I'd rather not be a narcissist and not be famous.  I don't expect flattery at every turn.

I disagree with your interpretation of the Mark Twain quote, to me it's sound advice. Which I will take.

Me too. No matter how I look at it, it's the opposite of narcissism. "Making others feel they also can become great" doesn't match the definition of narcissism at all. A narcissist wants others to feel small.

I understand where you're coming from.  As far as young people go, I'd agree with you that positive reinforcement is the best route.  But as adults, we can stand a little criticism here and there.  As far as professional critics, what a nasty racket, no?

Critisism can be positive, constructive feedback. To belittle is not a synonym to critisism.

If it was a demo post, my font would be smaller.

It may be of some constructive use to mention that "Melodyne Demo"  anagrams to "deny Elmo mode"

We now return you to your Mark Twain literary discussion group, in progress.
