Having a problem using my Waves license to the second computer.

The 1st PC is used with Sonar Platinum as my DAW and I have Waves working fine and using the USB flash drive, no problem there.

The 2nd computer is in the basement and has Cakewalk by Bandlabs installed.  I was creating songs and then transferring them to my Sonar PC to Mix.

1. So,  I went to Waves Central on the CbB PC (2nd PC) and clicked Install.
2. The message said to select a target Platform, so I select Windows.
3. Next I selected a folder on my Desktop called (WAVES MOVED) as the target directory.
3. Next, I click on the plugins I wanted to move to that folder and they appeared in the right siide of Wave Centra.
4. Finally, I clicked "Prepare Installer" and the plugins were moved there.
5. I moved the "Waves" Folder that was created in the (WAVES MOVED) folder I created to C:\Programs Files>     Common Files> VST3 and placed the new "Waves" folder there.

I ran my scan in CbB and I received the error message, "Wave License Engine is Missing".
I have the USB license drive in the PC, but the scan is stuck on WavesShell1-10.0.dll and I see the Wave license error of C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio\Modules\WavesLicenseEngine.Bundle

-Restore it and then click "Rescan Licenses"
-To continue without Waves products, click "Skip".

When I click Rescan License, the box just makes a ding sound and stays there, I have to click Skip.

Any suggestions?

I think I remember seeing a message that installation requires the licenses to be in the cloud.

So go to the first machine and move them from the USB key to the cloud.
Now install/activate on the second machine.

Once you have everything working on both machines, move the licenses from cloud to key and take the key from machine to machine for use

OK BobF,

I will try your advice and let you know how I make out.

Update, Just came back from Best Buy, which is about 10 minutes from my house.  I found a SanDisk - Ultra 512GB Internal SATA Solid State Drive for $109.00.

I'm going to update the Basement Drive from 110 GB  SSD to 512GB SSD

BESTBUY 512 GB SSD

Jesse, you will have to let WC install them for you. Moving from one machine to another won't work.

WC installs the licenses engine on the machine. It's not on your USB stick.

BobF,

I my main PC for Sonar, I sent the Licenses to the cloud.
I went downstairs and then opened Waves Central and installed all of the plugins to my CbB computer.
I used the license from the cloud as well.
OHHHHH  that took a loooong time, however, I am still getting the same message.

I am going back to the Sonar Computer and just uses My Waves plugins on that computer and call it a day.

Thanks for the assistance BobF and Grem.

NP. But something you did on that second machine is stopping the licenses from being read correctly and validating the installation. I'd get with Waves support and see what they suggest you do.

Do you still have those plugins from the upstairs computer on the pc downstairs? I have my Waves plugins installed on all three machines in my signature. And all I do is either put the license on a USB stick or to the cloud, and transferring them.

I think that could be the problem.

You moved the installation folder but in Windows' Registry the location of Waves applications is still the old folder.

Try a reinstallation without moving the install folder and if that doesn't work, I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling.

Best,
Klaus
