Well... I think I will keep the international notation :-)

I will assess if the problem exists with notes but, for what I have seen, we mostly use the US "Real Book" notation everywhere. Mostly, notes are mentioned in reference to tabs, so it makes sense

Quick comment from a French user.
The fractions are mathematical, so will be easily understood by all.
The French notations Ronde (= 1), Blanche (= 1/2), Noire (= 1/4), Croche (= 1/8), then Double/Triple/Quadruple Croche (respectively 1/16, 1/32, 1/64) are commonly used, but they probably won't be so easily understood by people who haven't been trained, or haven't taken the time to train themselves, so the fractions will definitely be convenient, as they make sense to everyone. And you will save space on screen.

By the way, does this survey mean you're currently working on a new updated staff view? When will you release it? We've all been waiting for this for so many years!!! I hope the bottle of Champagne I saved for when this day would come is still good .

Uhm, not that I know, Grebz - this post is my personal project, and I deal with localization first, terminology second, and user experience as a byproduct of the other two. But I will look into it. Why don't you gather your issues with the current staff view in a post in this same forum, so we can consider your feedback? Forgive if such a post exists already - again, I live in my own little linguistic limbo, the real support folks would already know about it :-)

Well, I did see a thread not too long ago where some guy from the team said that, now they don't have as much pressure to release a new Sonar version every year, they could definitely take the time to work on a new Staff View, which they hoped to release before the end of the year. I thought your thread showed that some progress was being made, but I fooled myself :-).
I understand what you're doing anyway, working in localization myself :-)

OK, thanks everybody, I hereby declare fractional values the winner. The change should happen over the next release or two
