Then check this out.

Peeps over at REAPER have a Session View VST plugin called Playtime:

I wonder could this sort of thing be implemented for Sonar??

AND - FL Studio has a Performance Mode ..

FL Stdio can be used as a plugin inside Sonar

If a Matrix overhaul is too much to ask, I would be temporarily fine with a simple-to-use function for recording/creating live loops.  That said, a full Matrix overhaul is in order.  The Matrix is totally the red-headed stepchild of Sonar, and that is unfortunate.

Recording and editing directly in cells (audio and midi) are essentials IMO.

Volume \ pan sliders are not for me (always have the CV or TV opened)...

Since I've seen users expressing similar Matrix related desires over at KVR recently, I figured I would bump this feature request.

This is not the place for a formal feature request so it may go unnoticed.

I thought that was the purpose of this forum and the related voting system.  What is the proper place, then?

I don't know where to vote, but I have been waiting for this feature for a long time. I still haven't upgraded, but if this comes, I will definitely do. I'm currently using Bitwig Studio because of this, but if Sonar provides it, I'll definitely use Sonar.

And it will be super great if the Matrix rows are wired to tracks by default.
