I've sent another response asking about the firmware update/corruption and if that is "fully" covered.  I'll post when I get a response.
 
As I previously noted this was a backup unit so either way it won't affect my operation.  But it will affect what companies products I'll buy.

Looks like their "warranty" is what the original response was.  Thus no more Tascam for me.
