I asked a similar question in computers and got the answer that most computer users leave theirs on 24 /7 pausing to reboot once in awhile for updates.

I'm wondering should I leave the components for my V studio on or, as I have been doing, turning off the console and the I/O between sessions? What do you guys do?

I do leave my Roland DS 90 monitors on all the time with no apparent ill effects after many years.

I don't agree at all. I have been switching everything off for over 30 yeras also without a single problem either. Computers should not and do not like being left on for long periods of time either. That is a myth. Windows really likes being booted up everytime. If you dont, your computer will clog up over time and start doing weird things. Also you are wearing out your hard drives/monitor too.

Turn your VS700R off as well. There is a fan in there and you will wear that out over time.

Turn your speakers off too. If you calculated the extra power you use over a year by leaving your speakers on you would be very surprised at the extra cost. Electricity is not getting cheaper only more costly.
Modern technolgy does not mind being turned off. If you go away for any length of time totally disconnect your studio from the power as well.

I've got my studio down to a couple main plugs that makes that easy.  Big thunder storms usually get the same practice as well.

I always shut everything down when I'm done using it. Saves power and wear and tear.

Yeah, I can't think of any good reasons to leave stuff on all the time, and several good reasons not to. It's just wasteful, really.

Having everything on a separate power supply with power conditioners & protectors etc between you and rest of the world makes everything a lot more quiet (where are those days when I just couldn't track down the bl**dy hum?)

still I disconnect when major storms approachs (it's a single 380V plug) ... insurance doesn't cover everything, ...

windows loves to be rebooted, sometimes even when taking a break in a long session it's worthwhile to restart windows ...

Well thank you for the input fellas. I got a little bit different idea from the computer forum but I've been turning everything off all along so will probably continue that practice. I do leave the speakers on but have done so for 10 years without a problem.

Leaving the pc on idea came from the fact that turning the hardware on an off accelerates the ageing

My home computer is on 24/7. I do some production on it but not nearly the amount I would do in my studio. That being said, it won't really hurt the computer to leave it on. Occasionally a fan will need replaced but that is really the only issue I've had a problem with in the decade or so I've been leaving it on and realistically, it depends on the fans. The better quality the fan, the longer the life. Case fans are always the first to go because of the type of bearings they use which are typically the cheapest they can get. I occasionally reboot the computer because sometimes Windows will bog down over time, but it boils down to how well you take care of and clean out files that cause issues like that.

I will also mention that my VS-100 is my interface on this computer and it too stays on 24/7. I do have concerns about the internal fan on it because eventually it will go, I'm sure and I don't know if I'll be able to get a replacement for it so I've thought about buying a backup while I still can but I have a feeling by the time it does go, I will have switched interfaces due to lack of technical or driver support.

The studio is always off and unplugged unless I'm using it. One, because it's a waste of electricity leaving all the equipment on. Two, because I'm not always around to unplug everything if we get a storm.
