I just bought the GTP3 and was having the same problems as below. I bought more RAM for my computer as well as an extrenal audio interface (M-Audio Fast Track). I have all of it connected and all is working great when I use GTP3, but when I go to record all sound is gone and the clock on the record timer goes about a hundred miles a minute. I have tried everything I can think of. Can someone Help!!!!

Hello there Janet

I suggest you list the problems you're having in a new thread - just click on the NEW POST button on the left side of the main Guitar Tracks forum page.

This thread has been wandering around since the middle of 2007 - if you post your question with a few details of what's going wrong you'll definitely get more responses and we should be able to narrow down your specific niggles and get you recording.

Give us as much information about your PC (Operating System, Processor type/speed, how much RAM) and what and how you're trying to record.

Janet,

Try making sure that your sample rate on GT3 is set the same as your Fast Track. To do this you can see the sample rate on the trasport control panel, it's at the top of the screen in the middle. It should read either 44.1 or 48kHz. Then you will have to open your Fast Track control panel and make sure that the sample rate is set to the same rate as GT3. It really doesn't matter much which sample rate you select. If you are only making demos to be put out in MP3 format then 44.1 is fine and it will save your hard drive space. Best of luck. BTW welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried all, but nothing has changed. When I first purchased GTP3 I was recording using my computers $10 mic. There was terrible latency and skipping when I recorded. I read how to fix that with increased RAM as well as using an extrenal audio interface which I also got. I increased my RAM by 1TB with an extrenal memory. I have all hooked up and can hear when I have my guitar or mic hooked up to my M-Audio just like before I added the increased RAM and EAI, but now for some reason when I push record the input is gone. There is no sound going into GTP3, but I can still hear it coming out of my speakers. Its like the program cant hear the input when I click record and the timer in the middle of the screen runs about a hundred miles a minute, which it did not do that before. Any other suggestions?

Hi. really sorry if this has been mentioned already but I'm trying to get this software working for my dad on his vista laptop. I have read a considerable amount of this thread and noticed other people were having the same problem as me with the programme not actually playing any sound while other programmes on the laptop could still make sounds. I attempted to complete Hollinsworths walkthrough on the second post and got as far as "Now on the General tab select you sound card.". I could not see where I select the sound card on this tab. So regardless of this (hoping i could skip it =p) I continued with the rest of the information on the post and attempted to play the example song that comes with the software.

Once I attempted to play the example song a message came up which I can now not remember. Sorry. The jist of this message was that there was a stop or something, bah i can't remember im afraid iv been trying to get this working for 2 hours and my brain stopped working about an hour ago. So I was wondering if you could clearly tell me where I input my sound card info on that general tab and the hope that this may get it working.

According to the box I am using Guitar Tracks Pro VERSION 3. any help would be great. Thanks for reading my little essay

Hi Rory,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. On the general tab there are two timing masters. One for recording and one for playback the timing masters should by default indicate you sound card. If not you can select it from there. Additionally you may want to go to this post here from RobertB regarding sound card set up. This should get you on your way

Rory,

More than enough info . Must ask when everything comes to grinding halt does it say "dropout" on the bottom of the GTP3 window? (Usually highlighted in red). I think this might be the case. What may be happening here is that there are too many background programmes running on the box. Let me know. Might have something to get you going.

hmmmm well there isnt anything that says dropout on the window, however there is a red rectangle at bottom right? (seems irrelevant but worth mentioning :P) apart form that no "dropout" being mentioned however this might be what was said in that box tha came up i mentioned earlier, but no it doesnt say anything on the actual screen about a dropout :( any other ideas?
