I have an issue setting up sonar 8.02 ..when I first load it up I get...

I'm using a dual core with just a simple motherboard soundcard (I want
to upgrade very soon to a usb saffire 6 but for now just learn to
use drum sequencing and make them sound 'real').

...after I set up the tracks I import a wav file and it just sits
there (busy) ... I can't hit play back as it just stops instantly.

I was thinking it might be a conflict with the shared audio drivers but also something to do with
the wav files when I import them. I've tried multiple wav files and still nothing.

the program is a fresh install so it's no doubt a case of checking some boxes I just don't know
which. :/
I've had sonar four playing back on this computer but I never got it to record incoming audio.

get yourself that saffire ASAP.. your using an onboard which isn't up to the task.. there is a reason why pro audio cards are more than home use ones... that ship on mobos and maybe are $5-10 a chip.

the thing is I'm broke... like really really broke and I shouldn't even be focusing on this at all.. but .... well...... I hate work and love music... beside the point.... anyway...

I've played audio back on this computer before so getting the USB device will only improve the quality and resolve this issue but for now I want to get this working so I can play around with it (without having to go back to sonar 4 or even sonar 7). :P

playing audio generally is NOT the same. update the interface your problems go away.. it's as simple as that.. try asio4all if you want.. but well you've been told what to do.. if you don't .. then don't moan.. simple.

but I can't ...*sigh*.. afford to upgrade right now as much as I would like to... I can't even afford decent food let alone a $200 interface :/

I just thought it might of been something that could of been easily fixable... for the meantime.

EDIT:

fixed it...

driver mode.
