Hi!

I bought my UM-1G a couple of years ago, and used it with my Casio CTK-471 Keyboard and an old white MacBook. I used mostly Ableton Live 8, and didn't have much problems at that time. Today I picked the UM-1G back up again to connect the Casio CTK-471 to my new MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz, 10.8.4 [Retina] and make some tunes in Live 9 Suite 9.0.5, but the device doesn't even show up in MIDI settings. The MIDI in LED on UM-1G responds when I hit the keys, but the USB LED is dead, and so is the MIDI out. Driver version is 1.0.2, which I understand is the latest.

Any ideas?

Sorry this info is for a different device (UM-2) under a different OS (Win 8.1 64-bit) but maybe the underlying issue is the same. I find from time-to-time (typically waking after hibernation) that the OS fails to detect the UM-2 properly, and installs it as an unknow device "failed to read descriptor" or some such messsage. Physical unplugging and re-plugging does not cure the condition, but Uninstalling the bogus device and then Scanning For New Hardware most times corrects the condition. This takes less time to do than it does to type this message. I am not a mac user, but is it possible that an analogous failure is happening in your rig?
