Any one going to buy this for their studio?
It seems really cool. But you have to buy one with lots of storage in the main SSD, and that makes it expensive. Well it is expensive. All of the models.

Very limited for DAW use... lovely machine, apple slayer for sure with graphic artists/drawers... However,
no usb 3.1 (twice as fast as 3.0
no thunderbolt/usbC which allows fast daisychaining of external HD/SSD's/monitors
32gb ram limits
kinda closed system...

On my tower I can do whatever I want! Next purchase is a 40in 4k monitor... truly awesome, according to all the VICer's who are going 40/43 inch...$800! my aging eyes demand it and my daw still kicks the studio's butt, DAW wise...maybe 1k-1200 buckeroos total to upgrade graphics too so I can continue using my two 28inchers as ancillary screens...and have additional options for future expansion... gonna be sweet!

Now, for my daughter, who creates amazing creatures/fantasy drawings and stuff, I'd love to gift her one if I sell my home for a good profit! Will for sure break her current Apple lust!

I'm thinking of getting an inexpensive Windows surface for use with RME for recording out or performing. I was thinking a 250 GB drive would be sufficient. I hope for two USB ports so I could plug in a supplemental USB drive for large sessions.

It would be nice to use Sonar too.

400 used?

My Surface Pro 2 only has 1 USB 3.0 port.  256GB SSD.  It will take a micro SD card though.
Here is info:

I use my surface for wireless control of my XR18.  Works great.  (I do use an external 5GHZ router though).
I hard wire (Ethernet to XR18) a Toughbook CF30 for recording/backup control.  I have not had cause to use this live and simply use it in the studio for now.

A docking station may help with the ports.  I do not have one of these so...YMMV

I have only the first one. And i would like to say that it is more than capable to run sonar. And use whatever soundcard that's USB. But the screen are to smal to work on. So it is, in my opinion, better for just playback for live gigs than editing midi. And that it only has 128 to 512 on the drive makes it not fitted to work with full NI Komplete. But if you just install Sonar and use your projects with audio files instead of midi then you can use it for great things.
