I am evaluating the Vegas Pro versions for general video editing.  Is the Vegas Pro at $399 pretty decent, or is the Vegas Pro 15 Suite at $799 that much better?

I think that Vegas Pro 14 Edit that we got in the Humble Bundle last year for $20 was decent!

Hey Bob, I happen to have an unopened copy of Movie Studio Platinum 14 (on sale now for $79). It's what I started with. I picked it up on an Amazon special for $20. PM me if you're interested.

Most of the extra price in the suite version is due to additional templates for doing things like making your video look like a pro documentary or an action film. The basic version of the program is fine for most basic video work and even supports vst plugins.

Those prices are a bit high. Looks like full retail prices. I just picked up Vegas pro 15 for a LOT less. 79.00 as an upgrade. If you buy a Magix program and opt to get sale emails you can do much better. If you get Vegas 14 from abacab, I would recommend registering it in your name on the Magix website if he didn't register it. Buying anything from them will get your foot in the door to the specials that are sometimes only offered to those who bought prior. Here is such a deal in audio as an example DEAL. It ends today. They run these deals on Vegas too.

Thanks, guys. I had already gone with buying Vegas 15 Pro before seeing your posts.
