If I want to make a MIDI track an instrument track there has to be an associated audio track.... If I do this later in the project the audio track defaults to a position at the bottom of the list ... can it be made possible to insert it just below the MIDI track I need to convert to an instrument track ... or am I missing something already

Hi, and welcome to this forum. If you mark / select a track, right click and choose insert track, the new track will be inserted above the marked / selected track.
