OK, so I think cell phones should run VST's native routing audio to/from the computer. This woulD take load of the proccessor, give the user more screen realestate and give a touchscreen interface for knobs and keys and such...AND IT WOULD BE SO COOL.

I've tried my iPad and it didn't work out for me.  I have plenty of processing power and don't need an external unit to do any processing.  Most of the VST's I have are not available for iOS or Android devices.

Not too many apps for windows.  I haven't even checked for music apps.  And my phone is too small and underpowered to run anything substantial.

At some future point it may come about.  As it is right now though its not viable for most of us.

OK I'll admit it, I own an iPhone and it is cool...The sound quality of  Garage Band instruments is kind of like TTS-1 I even payed about 12 bucks to get the upgraded stuff for GB and it still sounds like MS wavetable. It is handy when your sitting there with a uTube running figuring out chords using the keyboard. And the  fee Tuner apps are better than most $50 tuners I've owned. But cell phones are kinda a joke for studio stuff. Like said.. we have a tonne of processing power now why would you need to off load to another device?

Agree with Catus, I have owned one for many years. They just keep getting better, but so do PC's and I would not use the iPhone or iPad for recording production. I could see it being easily used as a potable touch mix board, however.

I also agree with the Tuner apps. I have several, including a Peterson strobe app.

Makes sense.  I hate cell phones in general. Why would anyone want to use a dinky screen.

eye fone stuff now is a novelty. Have projects been created on IOS devices, well yes, the muso on a train/plane can diddle away on his device for sure

ITS A COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE at this point in time.Yes apple and MS are trying to merge tablets with phones as technology grows ou can cram more computing power in a case, but you still have the small as hell screen, virtual keyboard and swiping for a mouse.

As usual the OP is on his mind altering substances....
