I have plenty of stuff for iPad that I can control DAWs remotely, plus plenty of small controllers, everything to create music in Starbucks.  That novelty wore off for me.  I use mine as a reader most of the time. Since it's a 32 bit iPad eventually Apple will make sure it's obsolete.

Kitekrazy1, Apple has "obsoleted" my old iPad.  It is not compatible with the current iOS version.  The 2016 OS update (I think its iOS 8) is the last.  If I wanted to keep current I would need to buy a new iPad (not planning on that).

 It's already there.   People don't even use a desktop or laptop or have an ISP.  They are content using their phone.

I am in the same club, I have a first generation I pad that responds with" I cant install this AP you need IOS 8 at least" and I am stuck at IOS 5. I purchased a newer generation one that I have Sample Tank, Galileo, and some soft synths on  that as of today is current on IOS, but who knows, Apple can obsolete IT.
Yes I know its hardware dependent as far as IOS updates  but on the other hand my Apple Series 1 watch updated fine along with my iphone 6S +, and lo and behold I have BETTER battery life with both!

eye fone stuff now is a novelty. Have projects been created on IOS devices, well yes, the muso on a train/plane can diddle away on his device for sure
 
ITS A COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE at this point in time.Yes apple and MS are trying to merge tablets with phones as technology grows ou can cram more computing power in a case, but you still have the small as hell screen, virtual keyboard and swiping for a mouse.
