i am trying to import some midi tracks from another program, & i do not want the lead in . however, when i load the song the lead in is always there. is there any way of not getting the lead-in. it is not in the other program, & even when i turn off the cakewalk lead ins its still there. i am using pro audio 9. it is very anoying as when put to a cd the songs all have that ticking lead-in

I have only recorded audio so far with cakewalk other than when I recorded a drum track from my workstation and I used the workstation as the sequencing control for timing as well.
 
However with Audio I have always been able to create a split at the beginning of any track (after I have done a recording) and then highlighted and deleted the unwanted section. I could then do a drag and drop of the track towards the left so the "new beginniong" of the track would be at the very start of the track rather than the further start with a blank gap at the beginning.
 
Hopefully you can do the same without creating a new problem with the MIDI start of the track.
When you do a split and delete and drag, you can un-do every new change as long as you don't do a "save".
 
So try and make those changes and then do a playback and see how it turned out. If it messes with your MIDI devices (that is if you are using those tracks as MIDI rather than Audio) than simply undo the changes, or close and reopen the project without saving it first.
 
That is assuming you did an initial save of the project before making the changes.

I'm not sure I understand the original poster, but that hasn't stopped me in the past!

The metronome lead in for PA9 is a Per Project setting so you need to open the project (or midi file) and then check/change the project options.  Menu Options>Project....  and then click the Metronome tab.  Make sure the lead-in count is 0.  Probably uncheck the Playback option too. Click OK then save the project.

If the lead-in is recorded in the midi clip or file that you open, then you can delete it.  

A simple way is to double click the midi clip that has the lead-in (likely the drum track) and use the eraser to delete the lead in notes.  This will leave the measures there but the notes will be gone.  Any other midi events (like volume settings, patch changes, etc) which may have been in the measures (typically they are at the start of the first measure) will still be there.

You can also delete the measures but then the notes and any other events (volume, patchs, etc) will also be deleted.  Generally if you do delete the measures you will want to delete them in every track.  Then you have to be careful about the non-note events in those tracks too.  If, for example, you plan to delete 2 measures at the start of every track, then you must first (using the event list view) move all the non-note events to the start of measure 3.  Not a lot of fun if there are lots of tracks with non-note events.  Otherwise you can just leave the measures there and let them play silently.

If you want to delete the measures, then on the time ruler, select the measures that have the lead-in.  Then click one track and shift-click the others to select every track.  The selected measures should be highlighted in every track.  Now do Menu Edit>Delete....   Make sure "Events in Track" is selected and that "Delete Hole" is selected.  Click OK to delete the measures.  The events in the tracks will slide over where the measures were deleted.

If you are happy with the editing results, save the project (or midi file as appropriate).

That's probably more than you wanted to know......
