  • The Rock Hour 6 - Using an aux track as a pit stop

I started a video blog series a month or so ago called "The Rock Hour" - as I wanted to share some of the things I encounter in my work with Sonar.

This is one where I used an aux track to process some audio behind the scenes - which is a technique I use for lots of different things....   Please tell me what you think!

Excellent job, David. The voiceover is clear, acoustically neutral and consistent between episodes.

One thing that drives me nuts are people who offer audio advice when their own audio sounds dreadful. You know, the ones made with an iPhone on a selfie stick in an untreated room.

Good luck with this endeavor. There's a lot of competition out there for eyeballs, so it'll take time to build an audience. Online forums are time-consuming but they're your best bet for spreading the word. Not just here, but all the recording-related forums, e.g. Reaper, Studio One, the DUC, Gearslutz and KVR. I'd also recommend Brandon Drury's recordingreview.com, a small but active community. Every time somebody asks a question on these forums related to something you've addressed in a video, you can legitimately post a link and it won't be seen as self-promotion.
