Newb question.

Running Sonar 8.3.1, is it possible to get Dimension Pro for this version of Sonar?

Cakewalk no longer sells Dimension Pro. It is still bundled with SONAR Platinum. Rapture Pro plays Dimension Pro programs and includes the Dimension Pro content.

That's a pity, I guess there is no upgrade path from 8.3 to Sonar X* other than buying out right?
Or buying another one? I guess that will nearly be the cost of getting Sonar Platinum.

Hi fishface,
here you can download a full working Rapture Synth for round about 4,30 € (the price of the magazin). Only buy the Magazin and you'll get a full version as a download.

And the best is, this Synth is updateable

I do not think that will give any benefits in this case: https://www.jrrshop.com/cakewalk-rapture-pro-upgrade
The price is for (any version of) Sonar, old Rapture

@fishface
Login to your account in the Cakewalk Shop, check that you have Sonar 8 registered and then check "your price" for Rapture Pro. I guess it should be the same as on JRR shop at the moment. But you can wait for next sale...

You can also check that it what you want with Demo version.

Note that Sonar Platinum is bundled with Rapture Pro Session, not with complete version. I am not sure it has all DimPro sounds. So at the moment separate version is the only way to get RP and either you have Sonar 8 or SPlat make no difference (at least I think so).

The question is what you want . Do you want to simply load some patches ready to use, i thing for 4,-€ this synth is realy good. In my opinion this Synth is also great to build own sfx patches or other very complex sounds.
When you actually come to the point if you actually get to the point where this version will be boring, then you can still update for 79,-€.
but hey man for 4 , - € you can go wrong actually nothing .

Greetings Tomas

With the last statement I agree.

But Studio 8 includes Dimention LE and Rapture LE, so I guess fishface wants full sample library of DimPro and not several extended controls in Rapture...

I'd be interested in a solution to this. I have Dim LE bundled with Sonar Professional, and would love to have the full sample set from Dim Pro. I have Dim Pro from when I had Sonar 8.5, and have installed it, but Professional doesn't see it when it scans plug-ins.

I do not know how DimPro was delivered back in 8.5 time, starting from X1 that was a separate package with own installation files and registrations codes. It supposed to work with any DAW, so it should work with Sonar Professional. Have you tried reinstall it?
In case you know you had it with Sonar 8.5 but you do not have separate installation package and you do not see it in your Cakewalk account (they have not added my 8.5 LE to the new system), try to contact Cakewalk.

DPro has always been supplied as a separate disc or download installer when bundled with SONAR. It was the same as buying the retail version. If SONAR is not scanning an old version it is likely only the 32bit DirectX version is installed. You could download the update to v1.5 which should have the option to install the 32 and 64bit VST format http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013166/Dimension-Pro-Dimension-LE-1-5-Update. Note, this update required DPro v1.2, if the installed version is older the 1.2 update is here http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2005302/Dimension-Pro-1-2-update.
