hi
i have problems with latency

I have asus tuf z270, cpu i7-7700K 4.2 ghz, 16 gb ram, and only ssd disks + motu 828x

i looked at your links and manual, but the link do not show how to get the most out of motu 828x, the closest is motu
828mk3 hybrid
so i tried the config instruktions showd for motu 828mk3 hybrid, stil a "big" latency...

my test in cakewalk sonar pro, is 2 stereo tracks, and uvi falcon with one sample, thats all ???
and its all just 44 khz 24 bit

i have set samples per buffer to 64 in motu, ok ?

i tried asio, and wdm/ks, which is best to use ?

do you know the best settings for removing that latency....

The smallest ASIO buffer size for the 828x is 64-samples.
Round-trip latency should be ~6ms at 44.1k

If you're experiencing more round-trip latency than ~6ms, there's a latent plugin inserted somewhere in the project.
Due to Automatic Plugin Delay Compensation, if a latent plugin is inserted *anywhere* in the project, all other audio will be delayed by an equal amount (to maintain sample-accurate sync).
The solution is to either avoid latent plugins while tracking... or you can use Sonar's Global PDC Bypass option (located in the Control Bar).  Disable Global PDC while tracking... and make sure to re-enable once you've finished.

To clarify:

Latency has but two sources
  • Audio Interface
  • Latent Plugins

thank you for helping :-)

on asio i DO see 5.9ms, but i can hear its more like 500ms ? even on falcon so thats also the midi

i forgot i have a LP EQ on one track and BT EQ on the other track, but that shouldnt do the latency ?
i tried the PDC, there was no differnce ?

im new to cakewalk and before i chosed daw i tried many, in ableton was there no latency like cakewalk ?

its a kickass motherboard and cpu i have, there shouldnt be so much latency ?

i see in motu cuemix fx, the dsp is like close to zero ?

i dont believe that there should be so much latency, it has to do with configs ?

im new to this. i have replaced all my audio to motu.
before i had protools 12 and digi003, and even a slower motherboard and cpu - there was no latency so im surprised to see it now...
i would add a pic so maybe you can spot error only 2 tracks audio used and then the falcon at the bottom, but no upload ?

help :-)

I just started a new session with same samples, it does not do it now, latency is 1.5 ms i will add the eqs again..maybe i dropped them the wrong place?

i try again :-)

The LP EQ does introduce quite a bit of latency. It does not matter where it is in the project. Hit "E" or the FX button in the Mix module and hear the latency disappear in the project.

If this is the old LP EQ there is nothing that can be done about it. If this is the new L-Phase EQ change the Precision to non-linear or use a different plug-in.

Hi John,

Linear Phase EQs (not just the Cakewalk version) are latent plugins.
Most "Mastering" type plugins are latent... as are most Convolution plugins.
