No, no luck.  I did reach someone at Cakewalk Customer Support (didn't write down their name), who promised to look into the cable as well as the possibility of obtaining SONAR 8.5, and then apparently decided I didn't merit e-mailing back with an answer.  I ended up buying X3 Producer and a headphone amplifier, which just seems ridiculous (the headphone amp).  Haven't got it all set up yet, as my new computer just showed up over the weekend, but will hopefully have things going before too much longer.  Not impressed with Cakewalk's Customer Service.
