I spent a Saturday afternoon going down a YouTube rabbit-hole of child prodigy musicians, including a video of that same kid even younger, smiling while effortlessly shredding away.
It brought to mind a favorite science fiction novel by Arthur C. Clarke from the 50's called
Childhood's End. In it, a generation of humans takes an abrupt evolutionary leap, leaving the previous generation feeling like soon-to-be-extinct Neanderthals.
When I see kids like this, I wonder if they might in fact be a new species...
