I use an amp sim called Vandal on these, which led me into a couple directions.

First, after noodling with bad metal licks courtesy of a much improved overdrive tone, I was able to settle into a good tone that really helped my guitar solos.

Second, Vandal includes bass amp options that led me to trying to replicate a late 90's Primus like tone using my fretless P-Bass played with some aggressive slap style ala Claypool.

I give you 2 selections:
Stank - Upbeat and definitely intended to hit the Primus style.  I'm no Ler LaLonde on the guitar, but I was trying to be a bit off center with the licks.

Diversionary Tactic - Much slower tempo with some cool L/R bounce in the guitar tracks.  Also, even though it's still a bit sloppy at points, I feel this has the best guitar solo I've ever pulled off.

Well...  I liked them!   Your bass, as usual, is the star of the show.   But that doesn't take away from the guitars which IMO fit in perfectly.   The overall mixes sound good too.

I preferred Stank myself, but the ping-pong panning in Diversionary Tactic was a nice touch.

Thanks Steve!
That ping ponging in Diversionary Tactic has no automation... just 2 guitar parts syncopated and placed left and right.  They should have a slightly different tone to them as well, but I don't think I differentiated that enough to pop out of the mix.

yup, good stuff.

I preferred "Diversionary Tactic" which apparently took you less time? It had a Grateful Dead quality that I actually liked. I think the two guitar tones are plenty distinct enough, and they play off each other very well.

Got lyrics for this?

Diversionary Tactic had the furry paws tapping and it made my furry ears smile, which is a good thing.

Stank, had some nice touches and still made the furry paws tap away, but the furry ears did not smile quite so much.

Thanks for sharing.

Ahhh, this comes up on all my stuff without fail.  I'm a terrible lyricist but a strong rythm improvisor :)

Been thinking about collaborating on these with my weekend warrior band mates to add some material to our sets.  Perhaps between the 3 of us we can come up with lyrics that don't suck.

Enjoyed the hell out of the bass on Stank. Very cool tune and it had my feet tapping plenty. Diversionary Tactic is a cool concept, but I think there is more to be done there to make it a complete song. Yes, the solo was very cool!

Dan

Both were recorded well. "Diversionary Tactic" had an interesting old school bass tone. It sounds almost exactly like that Rickenbacker 4001 through a Dual Showman that Chris Squire made famous. I always loved that sound.

This is interesting.. looking pretty split on the preference between the 2 tunes.

Also... I'm thinking either Wookie really is a Wookie, or he's way too into this online persona :)

Please note as a fellow musician I believe you require your upper limbs to perform, so I will be kind this once but Wookiee is spelt with two, that is 2 ee's at the end, thank you.

As to if am I really a Wookiee, well I know what I am if you are confused then that is your confusion not mine.
