I haven't used Fantom in while, but I had it properly set-up in X2a. I could use it as VST and directly via its IO.

Yesterday I tried to use it in X3b and I keep getting the message "MIDI devices aren't set up correctly. Make sure the settings in the Set Up MIDI Devices dialog box are correct." when using it as VST. I also get this message during VST scan. (I can use it via its IO but can't change patch parameters).

Forum and support page research shows that this is an "obsolete" problem, which points to an (also obsolete) hotfix for x64 and then points to the "Fantom VS Editor & ARX Editor Installer" found here (which is the one that I had installed with X2a and have always been using since).

When installing X3b, I wasn't sure whether to allow that installation of the VS-700 component, but (I think) I did check that option, believing it should be the latest version ...

Now I'm puzzled. Did X3b install some older files, is it something else causing this ... or am I going slightly mad ...???

Anybody else tried Fantom with X3b?

well, meanwhile I reinstalled vs-700 drivers & "Fantom VS Editor & ARX Editor Installer" from here and everything seem to be back @ normal

so beware of the X3 installer

Hi Steve

I'm still on win7 64bit, will stay there for a while as I don't feel like rebuilding the DAW ... not convinced of advantages of win 8 vs. effort it would take to set whole thing up from scratch ...

Question, when I installed the Fantom synth I chose the 64 bit version, but when I look it up in my sfz list is shown as 32 bit. How do I reinstall the 64 bit version?

there is no 64 bit version as such

i think what they labelled 64 bit version is sort of the more compatible version with 64 bit but it is in fact running as 32 bit

Could you refresh my mind or set me down the right path for the proper input / output settings for the Fantom synth. I seem to have midi input according to my channel meter, but I cant get any sound out of the darn thing. I think i'm missing something in my settings. I don't have any problems with other sfz's.
