Read The F***ing Manual... which I should do more often... I read this Forum instead.

Thanks, Don.  I should have known that.  My brain was elsewhere. :-)

A billion years ago, I was designing internal mainframe software for IBM and calls sometimes got routed to me.  (I actually wrote all the help files and manuals.)  I told one caller that what he was looking for was the first paragraph of Chapter 2.  He said, "I don't have time to read it.  What does it say?"

I said, "You don't have time to read it, but yet you think I have time to read it to you?"

I think now that part of the severity of the problem is a fundamentally changed "logic" when it cones to selecting tracks, clips etc.

There is almost always more selected than what I intended to. What took one click to select now takes 3. Way more mistakes happen because of this. Seriously considering rollback to a previous version ... which one would that be? 2017.06 or .05? When did they fiddle with this so badly?

Not sure I understand Rob, cant you just lift your finger off the CNTRL button for a second ?

I think the conversation has morphed in to the one where SONAR seems to select "all tracks" a lot now. This is regardless of whether ctrl is held down or not...

Note to self: RTFM for anything you might accidentally do before you accidentally do it.

BTW, thanks for the tip.

that's not really the problem ;-) as I understand it now. The problem is the fundamentally changed "logic" when it cones to selecting tracks, clips etc.

Often I have only the few tracks in view that I currently focus on (e.g. the 4 back vox tracks), so when e.g. you work on subtle timing issues of the clips, you decide to quick group the 4 and bring down the reverb send. yet with this new habit of Sonar to select all tracks (which you may not even be aware of) you are all the sudden changing the entire reverb balance of the mix!
