I currently have a "vocal booth" where I have Behringer Powerplay Pro XL which has four jacks for headphones.  This panel is connected via a cable from the front of my VS-700 console (phones 2).  All four jacks work fine when playing back.

When I want to record someone doing vocals, a head set is used. When the person who I am recording hears himself in the headset, there is a slight delay or latency.  I don't know what causes it.  I've tried different headsets with the same thing in all four jacks.  When I plug directly into the VS-700 console, no problem.  Has anyone else experienced possible latency in a headset monitor?

Have you tried using the VS-700R for your monitor mixes?

No, I have not.  I have, however, tried plugging in a headset in the output jacks but didn't get any signal.

You should run a powerplay headphone distribution amp out an output, not a headphone output. Phones 2 is for a set of headphones, not a line signal driven headphone amp. Try switching your headphone distribution amp's input to the 9-10 outputs or the Main outputs, whichever isn't used for studio monitors. You should also analyze your signal routing in Sonar. There are several things that could cause a delay.

On the headphone distribution amp, there is only ONE input which allows me to input a stereo 1/4 inch input directly from the headphone jack on the 700 Console.  I am not sure how to plug in the line from the 700R to the headphone distribution amp.  I see there are 10 outputs on the back of the 700R.  Do I somehow need two jacks for outputs 9-10?

I've tried plugging my single stereo cable into the 700R's output's numbers 9 and 10 but I don't get any signal.  I figured I don't know the way to get the signal there.  Does this make sense?

I have my outputs 1-2 from V700r connected to stereo input on headphone amp. But you must also route the outputs from a particular buss to the inputs you used to connect to the headphone amp. You should create a new Buss then route all the signals or whatever to that BUSS then route that Buss to headphone amp and control the volume from Buss out on Sonar. I have that exact same headphone amp routed from the V700r and Sonar.

Thanks, kday, for attempting to give some help.  I am quite dense on this subject so I am not quite understanding what was written.  I understand I need to create a new buss.  I am getting confused on routing the signals.  When I have a project, by default, the signals go to the Master.  How does the Master play into the picture?  Do I route the signals from the Master to this new buss?  Do I bypass or eliminate the Master?  How do I "route that Buss to headphone amp and control the volume from Buss out of Sonar"?

Just a stab......Is your input echo clicked on? turn it off and monitor direct through your i/o ????

Yes, the input echo is on.  If I turn it off, I do not get any signal through the headphones (or anywhere else).  It is like muting the mic or anything else I might want to record.

It is not your headphones - You need to decrease your ASIO buffer setting when you are recording and it will eliminate the latency - just remember after you are totally completed your recording to raise your buffer size back to where you keep it originally....
