I'm surprised that no one mentioned Grand Rhapsody by Waves.  I got it on sale for $29, not expecting much, and it turned out to be a gem.  You can control quite a few parameters, it has several piano models, and cuts through a mix.  Worth checking out.

as an FYI, The module of True Pianos that comes with Sonar is generally regarded as the weakest of the offerings

Thanks for the information. Wasn't aware of this. I like True Pianos as well, downloaded the demo version. It comes with a very decent 40 days fully functional evaluation period, however I don't see anything other than the "Atlantis" module (as in Cakewalk) available for evaluation. A bit weird, haven't gotten to test the other modules like Sapphire, Emerald or Diamond.

Thanks for the tip. It's still on sale, now Memorial Day sale for $29 (There is a 24 hrs sale on Waves btw). I set out to check it out, but gave up during the process. It requires 8 GB on the system drive and 6/15 GB for the sample library, if I understood correctly. I unfortunately don't have that kind of drive space available at the moment. Nice price, but that makes me a bit skeptical as to how well it actually works. Doesn't look like a runaway success to me.
