  • 2017.5 Seeing Unusal Number Of Dropouts

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

It happens even when I have a very minimal setup such as for mastering... But I keep getting them (dropouts) and the reset start/stop engine don't seem to work after each incident. I must restart Sonar to get back to normal...

I do think I notice that it happens when I allow Sonar to sit in the background for a few minutes...?

I'm running a fully updated version of Win8.1 here...

Thanks...

I am also getting dropouts quite frequently. and crashes.  Sonar is getting increasingly unstable in my opinion

On Win 10 I have been getting a few problems since the latest update. I have noticed the audio dropout box appearing quite unexpectedly, I mean even when no audio is playing. I've also been having problems opening projects from the start screen - they crash on load but don't when opening using other methods.

Judging by the fact that this thread has not lit up with people having similar issues since updating to 2017.5.... looks like it's something particular to your systems.

What audio driver mode are you using.  are all Windows patches up to date.  Confirmed that all latest hardware drivers - including video.  No unnecessary background tasks eating CPU cycles.  Audio buffer time set too low.  What bit depth and sample rate are your projects at?, etc

I also experience quite a bit of audio dropouts recently. More than I had before.
I suspect using the Adaptive Limiter (great addition by the way!) and LP EQ is more demanding on the CPU.
But even if I am using only one at a time, I still get more frequent dropouts -in my perception- than before.
I am running on Windows 10, Intel i7 2.6 GHz 16Gb RAM.

If this can be addressed, i'd be more than happy. Because I am impressed what Sonar can do, and extremely happy with it.

Sonar is mostly running just fine.

I seem to be getting these now even when near nothing in the project and not running. Sometimes Sonar is in the background when it happens while i do some simple chore such as copying files.

All software is up to date and this did not strat happening until 2017.5

I had more frequent audio engine problems in 2017-05. Rolled back to last solid version on my system and all is well. Hoping future updates are more stable. I find after major feature changes it sometimes takes a few updates to settle down.

Thanks for looking in Keith...

Yes, my system is fine for real time audio according to the Latency monitor...
