bapu, just want to get this right.
The ADS pyro worked fine in Win 7. Was the pyro a PCI card? or PCIe?
Now with the same computer? upgraded to Win 10, the ADS quit working correctly?
Do I have that right?

The ADS pyro "quit working" in that while in Win 10 (booted) if I powered it off while in Win 10 and the powered it back on Win 10 would crash.  In Win 7 with the Pyro I could power off and on While in win 7 NEVER with a crash.

The Syba card lets me power off and then power back on while Win 10 is up.

Zarggy said that he belives the Syba card is hot swappable capable. I conclude the Pyro (or mine specifically) was not hot swapable capable.

Well.... I spoke too soon.

While Win 10 is booted it worked once bu not again.

I like to leave my DAW on 24/7 but only turn on the RME and FW-1884 when I'm actually doing audio work.

Just gonna have to change my pattern.

Other than that "glitch" the FW-1884 works flawlessly in SONAR.

Heating up the room did make no difference.
Will go out and buy a new cable, to see if that makes any difference.
Will report back.
All the best.

Sorry to hear that Ken. Hope you get it sorted out.

New cable did not do anything
The only light I get (beside all lights flashing when starting up) is clock, and stop (in computer mode).
Any ideas as where to go from here?
All the best.

The FW is working as a mixer? By that I mean the audio section is working, it just won't connect to the computer?

I have not tested that yet. Will try, and report back.
All the best.

It works as a mixer. I only tried one input / output (insert), but it is working. It just will not connect to my pc.
Tried two different FW cards, and two different cables with same result.
Thanks again for chiming in, Tom
All the best.

I finally / suddenly got connection with my FW 1884 again today
I read all threads about the FW 1884 on tascam forum, back to 2005, and tried various methods without any luck.
I then decided to open it up, to see if anything apparent would show itself. I checked as many connections as I dared to. Sprayed some electronics cleaner in most places. Thought I had nothing to lose, as it did not work. Fired it up, with no go. Then I thought it cannot hurt more if I connect both FW ports from the FW 1884, and to the pc. No luck.
I then took out one of the cables, and voila. It connected
I am not sure if I dare to turn it off again, now that it is working again.

On a sidenote, I also repaired the SPL eq Magix I bought the same say the FW 1884 lost connection today (mostly with super glue and electronics cleaner).
Today has been a good day for me
I thank you (Tom, and Ed) for guiding me through my frustrations.
All the best
