It brought Alan Parsons to mind, only better.

I'd vote for the bass lower in volume just a hair. It's louder than the guitars when the guitars are being featured. Check the 4:05 area?

Otherwise just a super mixing job here, and fine composing as well.

The second part, "Headless Cross" I presume - just lovely. Great panning on those thumping stormdrum thingies. Vocal is so good, love that guy's voice.

Ridiculous idea: Swap the two songs.  The Headless Cross/Shuttlingsong. Probably makes no sense re: the original story, but would make more sense to a casual listener, or at least me at any rate. Slow one, then fast one.

really cool work!

excellent mate - the build up in the first section is really well paced and the guitar tones and playing are fantastic.
The second section is just gorgeous.
Well done mate

Got a great late 70's Kansas vibe on this one. Crisp highs, maybe some more mids to fill out the sound spectrum. Keep it up!

boy, that's a big arrangement!
i dig the 'pushing forward' meter and approach...

cool solo guitar stuff....the delay effect, seems stereo....?

reminds me a bit of some of roger waters' solo work...
i think i like the 2nd half the best, just because of the vocal.

Daryl - thanks very much boyo

Paul - thanks, I'm not sure sure why the mids are lacking, that wasn't deliberate

Rob - thanks a lot, yes, I look forward to that vocal, it makes the piece

I DL'd the whole album when you put it up a couple of years ago. Still listen to it to this day. Great work you all did on these (and the rest).

Regards,
Dan

Not bad. The drumming (and the sound) was very good. The acoustic guitar, keyboard, and vocals were recorded pretty well too. I didn't care for the tone of the lead guitar. It sounded like a really old amp sim from the 90s, but they playing wasn't bad. I think the recording could use some better bass playing though. It was awfully basic and a little redundant. Overall, it was a pretty good song though.

Dan - thanks for the support, I remember you were one of the few who DL-d the whole thing!

Charlie - thanks for taking the time to listen. '90's amp sim' - yes, good ears, that was (and still would be) my ancient Boss BR8, which I use for guitar sounds. It is what it is.
