I dont really hang out on any forum anymore. I just poke my head in now and again (well..rarely) and visit www.idmforums.com

I opened a soundcloud page - http://soundcloud.com/10-music
though I am not on there very often either.

Still using P5, but plan on looking elsewhere once school is done and I can settle down and build my Art/Photography/Music studio :D

I'll check it out Sean. And keep my e-mail address in case I drop out of the forum. (the same to the rest of you)

HiThere
P5 rules big time. It's very easy and intuitive. Thank you, Cake, for making P5. Here's hoping for a comeback!

Sure - Project 5 is no longer supported, and wont get any upgrades any longer - but in it's present incarnation it does exactly what I was looking for, so I don't mind. It runs without a hiccup on Windows 7 64bit, and I can use all soft-synths and plugins that came with X1 (and the free FX/SOFT-synth stuff I downloaded). It even works perfect with my BCF 2000!

Man - I am happy now...
uh . . . how did you get it to install on Win7 ?!?!  I was ready to give P5 a kiss goodbye cause I can't seem to load it on my new pc-build with Win7.  I'll try it again I guess, wonder why it won't even try to load right?

I upgraded to Sonar 1X from 8.5 yesterday, huge improvement. Just saying.  Still a P5 Fangirl, though.

Update::::::I found a thread about how to install P5 2.0 (from disk which must come before the update of course) on Widnows Vista.....I'm going to cross my fingers and try it when I get home.

No problem w/ P5 and vista here.  32 bit, tho.  I'm sure some of the others have it working on 64.

success !  All from reading the threads here, thanks gang.  P5v2.5.1 is loaded and working......I do have to admit Sonar 1X is a big improvement, if not an outright step in the right direction in "ease of making music".

I've had P5v2 running on Windows7 in both 64 and 32 bit mode. I went back to the 32 bit mode because it afforded me some options that just weren't available in the Windows 64 bit mode.

No problems at all, and I use it everyday. I still use Sonar 8.5, but P5 is so quick that I can scratch out an idea in just a couple of clicks instead of all the setup involved with Sonar.

Now that I have found a way to send program, bank and patch changes to my outboard sound module from within P5, I love using it even more than ever.

I had some little problems in the past when installing P5 (demo version I downloaded - not longer available I guess) over Sonar 8.5, so when I got my hands on the full P5 version I decided it was time to do a fresh new clean Windows install.

At first I installed Windows 7 64 bit, drivers etc. and did some performance tweaks. Then I installed all free FX and synth stuff (still love Independence free, NI Komplete 7 players, Proteus VX, Voxengo stuff etc.) And on top of that P5. I did not run the application, but installed the upgrades before doing anything. Then I launched P5 and did the usual configuration stuff.

After I was sure P5 (v2) worked like it should do, I installed X1 on top of that. This installation replaced some old versions of stuff used in P5, but it does not seem to have any bad effect on P5 itself. The full fresh version of Dimenson Pro works great in P5. And before someone asks - no I did not installed the older Sonar 8.5. I only use X1 now. The only reason I keep the 8.5 install, disk around is because it has the Lexicon Pantheon Verb on it. This one is missing on the X1 install DVD (guess it is for licence or stability reasons, although I do not have any stability problems after installing it from the 8.5 DVD).

The result is I have a perfect working P5 together with X1. Oh - and this time I did not even bother to install Ableton Intro. P5 gives me all the "scratch-pad" usability that I was using in Intro.
