Kenny, glad you got it installed and working.  Yes it is a pretty neat program and I hope you continue to like it as much as I do.

One more suggestion.  Go to the groove3 website and consider their "Music Creator 6 Explained" video tutorial for $15 US.  Even though I've used MC2, 3 and 4 the 28 videos still taught me many things I didn't know about Music Creator.  I also like having the videos as a ready resource when I'm trying something new or want a refresher.  The download is remarkably small (less than 600 megabytes) and very comprehensive.

Kenny, glad you got that worked out.
SP3 really seasoned XP, and played a big part in its longevity.
On somewhat of a side note, check the thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink.
That had all baked out of mine and was ultimately what did the old girl in. After 10 years of outstanding service, the P4 cooked itself to death. P4's are famous for running hot. Don't let it sneak up on you like I did.

Hi Robert , I'm happy things are working out .
the truth is ,
if I didn't pick up MC6 for XP …….getting SP3 over here might not of happened …better late than never….

Yes,  I am gonna heed your advice and look into the heat sink / thermal paste

is this the type of maintenance you are suggesting I do ?
http://www.frozencpu.com/resource/r8/How_to_Apply_Thermal_Paste.html
if that is what you mean , that looks like something I could do , or more accurately should do as soon as I can ..

thank you Robert

I recall having to do that as well.... glad you nailed it down.... I had forgotten about that detail....

It was on my custom built DAW.... I installed XP pro from a disk ...IIRC it came with SP2 and I needed to grab SP3 and install it.

Hi Herb,
yes, I feel lucky to have nailed it down …..
hhhmmm, i might have to figure out how I'm gonna back up SP3 in case some time in the future I have to reinstall my XP OS on this machine ...
thanks Herb for helping me out

I'm posting this little blurb for anybody that happens to be interested

On my XP machine Music Creator 6 actually out performs SONAR 6 PE …no joke , no lie ….
here's how I found this out
my default setting for opening midi files was SONAR 5 SE ….double click and the midi's open in SONAR 5 ….
when ever I wanted to open them up in SONAR 6 PE I would do a right click and choose SONAR 6

now when I installed Music Creator 6 XP version I did a basic install and let it do it's thing …..
I'm very happy I did btw…..
Music Creator 6 decided to associate my SONAR 6 projects as Music Creator projects ….
at first I was like hey ….all my projects are now Blue looking MC icons instead of the Gold S 6 icons….
no biggie …
I continued to right click and choose SONAR 6 PE if I wanted to open them up as SONAR 6 PE projects

here's where it gets interesting ...
one day I decide to see for myself …what will happen if I take a large project that had 30 + tracks of audio

this song happened to be a song that I created in SONAR 6 PE and mixed in SONAR 6
(it is my current song over at the songs forum )
now, here's a statement of fact ….
this tune had a thousand little edits and it used to choke my computer when I listened to the song play in real time while using SONAR 6 ….
I would get blips, burps , audio hick ups , and my CPU was way into the red…..

I opened the tune up using Music Creator 6 XP and I was shocked
all my plugs were there and my CPU was hovering at half what it was when I opened the song up in SONAR  6
between 50 % to 65 % CPU
I was like WHAT ?  how can this be
my song played in real time with out so much as a glitch of any sort ...

OH yeah I was gonna keep that a secret …but hey,  I said to myself why not share it here with you good folks

so now I say to myself OK , lets find out what happens if I decide to work the other side of the street and open up Music Creator 6 XP projects in SONAR 6 PE….. what will happen now …...
So I open up the Blues demo project and it was all pretty much there …all the audio and stuff was where it was supposed to be ….every thing came in a grey , meaning the track colors that were in MC 6 XP didn't make the trip...

So now I say to myself …what would be the benefit of going from MC 6 to SONAR 6 ?
then it became very clear to me …..after I started working up ideas and little musical snippets in MC 6
Music Creator 6 XP is very lean and easy to work in ….not a whole lot of BS and extra stuff to navigate around
just a plain and simple user interface that does not get in the way of creating and developing musical ideas ...
I also like the fact that it sees all my synths , loops and plugs …..also my P 5 Rewires into MC 6 no problem ...

A very nice benefit is now I can use MC 6 XP as a musical scratch pad ,  when I have something I want to develop further I can just open the project in SONAR 6 PE and not be bound by any of the MC 6 limitations ….
in plain english …I can export my mixes at 64 bits like I always do

at some point I'm gonna see if Music Creator 6 touch behaves the same with SONAR X3 PE …in Win 8
I haven't had the time to check that one out yet …...

anyway , I thought I would share this info here …...

That very thing..... being lean and not having lots of stuff to distract from the job at hand is what I really loved about the MC series of DAWs that I have.

they upgraded the audio engine in X1 and MC6 is based on that, so I would expect you to get the results you did.
