Just purchased Music Creator 6 Touch via Steam, with the main attraction being TH2 guitar amp simulator, and the ability to create backing tracks for guitar practice.

First thing I did was load the demo song - which only partially succeeded. It displayed a message saying The following Plug-ins could not be found ....TH2 Creator (Track:....).

Have now spent a long time trying to figure out how I can load TH2 but failed miserably. There is definitely a TH2 Creator.dll file in the TH2 folder within the VSTplugins, and other plugins have loaded and are available from the Insert > Softsynth menu.

I run Windows 8 on a a PC with an Intel Core i5, 16G RAM, and have 900GB free.

Feeling very disappointed at the moment

Can anyone advise

Thanks

TH2 is not a synth, it is an effect. It has no sounds of it's own, it is an amplifier simulation intended to be used on audio tracks.

Thanks for the reply.

I understand what TH2  is, I have used Native Instruments Guitar Rig in the past - hence my enthusiasm for TH2. What I can't figure out is how to load it, or access it form within Music Creator Touch - in my Google searches I found other references to the Insert menu- hence my comment.

I am particularly concerned that the demo reported  that it could not be found.

All help appreciated

You should be able to drag it from the the "Audio FX" in the Plugins tab of the browser to the fx bin of an audio track or right-click in the fx bin of an audio track and select it from the Audio FX menu

Thanks again

It is not there on my PC

On my PC the Cakewalk options are AliasFactor, Classic Phaser, Compressor/Gate, HF Exciter, Modfilter, Multichorus, Para-Q, Studioverb2 and Tempo Delay.

It sounds like you are only seeing the DX effects. In Preferences > File > VST Settings make sure the "VST Scan Folder(s)" has the path(s) to your VST plug-ins and run the "Scan VST folders". You might also want to check the "Scan for VST Plug-ins on Startup" option.

Thanks again for your patience.

The "VST Scan Folder(s)" has the path  to my VST plug-ins,  and  the "Scan for VST Plug-ins on Startup" option is ticked. My understanding is the correct path is being specified as if I go the Menu > Insert > Softsynth, I can select from a number of the Cakewalk soft synths such as CakewalkSoundCentre, TTS, SI Bass, SI Piano and SI String.

This only other two devices in the VST folder are the SI Drums (which I have not looked for as yet, and TH2. I understand your comment that TH2 it is not a synth, and should be found under Audio FX but I am struggling to understand where, or if there is an issue on my system.

I'm curious about the SI drums now as well - but that is a side issue which I haven't explored as yet

Just re-installed my copy of Native Instruments Guitar Rig (Limited Edition) and I can see this in the Plugins > Audio FX browser. Always previously used this as stand alone and never played with it within a DAW before - I can to use this to record and play back with the Guitar Rig effects and now understand how it all fits together, but I still have no access or visibility of TH2 guitar amplifier simulations and pedals which is a primary reason I purchased the system so still feeling frustrated

Actually TH2 (or any VST plug-in) could show up as synth or effect depending on how it is configured. By default TH2 would show up as an effect but if the "Configure As Synth" options is set in TH2's VST options in the Plug-in Manager, then TH2 would be listed in the synth lists. The "Configure As Synth" option allows MIDI control data to be sent to the plug-in. But since you already stated it was not in the synth list, I figured to check the effect list.

You might want to try to force a re-scan. Make sure you are running as administrator, in the VST Preferences (or using the Plug-in Manager) check the other scan options and then rescan. Make sure to deselect the other options after the rescan. Then look for the plug-in. If that does not work, I am out of ideas and suggest you contact tech support.

Hi,
Just followed your thread regarding TH2 Creator.  Did you ever get it to work?  Have you ever tried to run TH2 Creator VST in another DAW (like Reaper)?  I would like to record with it using Reaper but it seems to only run inside of MC6.  Have you had any experience now using TH2 outside of MC6?
Thanks
Hiamp
