I do a lot of sequencing and since my band uses horns I do all the charts. It's been a while and a few computers ago since I've done that however and back in the day I was using a dedicated notation program (Passport if you want a laugh) that no longer functions with my new os.

So now I have Music creator (well I'm about to go buy it so, I haven't actually seen how it functions yet, but I'm sure there's a staff view) and Sonar Producer X2 and I can see the staff view and watch the horn parts go by....

My question is...Can I print those parts somehow? (I know I have to transpose them for the proper horn etc) ...if so How?
If you can tell me easily...cool...if not...I am not lazy and if you know the links to the answer pages...those would be nice as well...I can't seem to find an easy answer.

Again, thanks

Yes you can. I have older versions of MC and Home Studio, and the new X 3.
In older versions, you go to File>navigate to the bottom and click the >>>>>> to find Print.
In X 3, there is a handy Print button right above the Staff view.
I can't remember where Print is in MC 6, but it's there... somewhere.

There is a print option in SONAR X2 Producer in the staff view menu bar under where the A is pointing to in the picture from http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Lang=EN&Req=Notation.02.html. If MC has the ability is will be located there too.

Thanks guys...Stupid question of the day...I'm about to by Music Creator 6 touch...the price says $19.99...is that the real price? (it seems so cheap) I use Sonar X2 to do all my work, so I'm good to go there...but I'm buying something smaller, less cluttred to use on stage on a laptop to run sequences with so I won't actually use it other than for that purpose (just to play my midi or cakewalk files live) So something inexpensive is what I'm looking for..again...is the $19.99 price for real, or is that an upgrade price or something like that?...sorry it just seems so low

Scook...perfect...man with so many little toggles and buttons...I simply missed that...thanks

Yeah, that's the real price.....

Yes, that is the real price. There are limits to track, instrument, effect and bus counts http://www.cakewalk.com/D...mp;Req=Comparison.html

Since you already have X2....... why not just use it since as Scook says, MC6t is limited in a number of ways.....hence the low price.

Both X2 and MC6T have essentially the same UI. There is no need to install the full version of X2 Producer. I don't understand the clutter issue but it is not my decision.

I seriously want to thank all of you for all these answers...You guys are as helpful as any forum I've been to (for other product lines etc)

Guitar Hacker...I am using X2 for everything including charts (now that I know how to print)...I don't want to put x2 on this little laptop for just this single minded purpose...it's way overkill...so, for me, I'd rather use creator.
Thanks for the pricing issue answers...I'm off to buy it..

Jason, I'm doing the same task with the X-series. If the interface is the same, for the transposition, I use the 'key' option of the midi track to setup the brass/woodwind section. I'm also using it with the Garritan Jazz and Big Band.

Alto Sax : -9
Tenor Sax : -14
Trumpet : -2
etc..

For printing, I'm now exporting it via MusicXML (not sure if Music Creator has it) to either Notion or Finale. The only reason I'm exporting it is to touch up the song title (and sometimes editing the Tuplets) and to have a more compact score print out. I can get a good one page score from Notion - whereas with Sonar X, the printout may be 2 or more pages of the same arrangement.
