All the sound (sorry) advice has been given above so I will not reiterate.

Thanks for sharing.

I think the hi hat/cymbal might be too loud, and covering your vocal a little bit. Have you eq'd the hi hat so that everything below 800k is gone??

nice swamp thang!

I liked your song..
The comments are already given and there isn't anything I can add too.
I would be willing to have a go at mixing for you if you wouldn't mind sharing your stems.

All the best with your projects,

Gary

How about on Dropbox? I can upload to there and send a download link. I have to kind of tidy up my tracks because I tended to just open new tracks for little bits here and there. I'll have to consolidate like tracks so that the upload isn't huge. Anyway, I'll post back here when I've uploaded everything. Might be a day or two.

Thanks very much for your interest. Frankly, I'm not happy with the sound of any of my mixes. But just today I took possession of some 8 inch Yamaha's and am almost finished mixing a new song. I'll go out on a limb and say that the 8 inch sound has improved my mixing quite a bit. It's too early to know for sure, but I'm guessing that my old 5 inch Mackies might have been really making things tough in mixing...because I think I might have been perpetually buggering up the low end...which effects everything down the line...it effects how you mix the vocals...guitars...everything. With the 8 inch Yamahas suddenly the low end is represented better, and I can kind of lock it in and build around it. This is my hunch. I'll post the new song tomorrow or so and see what anyone else has to say.

Anyone who would be interested can sure have a go at mixing Swamp Blues.

GREAT song performed really well.
I'm not sure if you were going for it but the dry mix has a 70's vibe to it that I would hate to take away completely.

Nah I wasn't really going for that...but I'll take it! Ha thanks. My main preoccupation is with trying to get songs to sound kind of equal across as many listening scenarios as possible. It's frustrating when you put a lot of effort into recording and mixing...and then it sucks the second it's listened to on anything except what it was mixed on. We all have this issue I guess. It's a tough one.
