I'm just starting to use Mix Scenes and have an easy question, I think.

What is the difference between saving the project and saving a mix scene? I've just clicked on "Save Scene", but the project name in the top left of Sonar has an asterisk, indicating I need to save the project. I don't think I've made any non-Mix Scenable changes, I'm not recording, I'm mixing.

Curious to know the diff.

Thanks,
Timbo

And PS if I'm not a quick replyer it's because I'm not getting messages when the threads I participate in are updated.

A mix scene is a separate file and does not affect the project dirty flag indicated by the asterisk next to the project name. Save the project to clear the dirty flag and update the project file.

Thanks, I didn't get the advisory email that you'd replied, but checked.

This problem with the site ticks me off.

Email from this application and other old Cakewalk services has been off for some time. AFAIK, there are no plans to re-establish it.

Oh, I thought I'd read that some got and some didn't ... thanks for that.

Mix scenes are external files to the project but the project stores references to them. Hence the project gets "dirty" when you add new mix scenes. Typically if you save a mix scene you should also save the project to allow it to update its reference to the scene. The main advantage of mix scenes are that you can keep a single project file and try out completely different mixes or routing configurations without having to save multiple versions of the project file.

Its might be a bit confusing that you can save mix scenes independent from the project file but it allows the flexibility to share the same scene between different versions of the project if you ever need to. (you can drag and drop a mix scene file into a project to apply it)
