HI folks.
I have a new set of Focal monitors and I have mixed one of the cake walk demo tracks.
If some of you have time could you give some feedback on this mix.

I have the Focal Trio B6 monitors and SE Egg 150.
I mixed this without the subwoofer (Presonus)


The Trio Monitors are a large upgrade from the Eggs.
The more you get into this mixing stuff...  I think the better your ears get!!
I am 54 and think I am loosing a bit of the speech range and learning to compensate for that...   but it takes time.  :-)
 
I have been experimenting with Adaptiiverb and added it to the Acoustic guitar...  gives a little synth effect to it.
Also using Altiverb to add that little extra on the final mix.

I find reverb the hardest part to get right...  its so easy to over do!

Reverb can be a real <very naughty word>

A great piece of advice I read somewhere is to add reverb in solo until you can hear it then back it off a touch.  Unless of course you are after that sound of lots of reverb.  Then make minute balance tweaks to the individual reverb sends within the mix to achieve a final balance.

I tend to use a global reverb for this to create a single space for each voice/instrument to sit within.

sounds great here - tight in all the right areas

The song is pure bliss, though, the attack/compression on the rhythm guitar sounds a bit squished.

The mix and sounds are good on my Yamaha monitors.
Enjoyable song too.
