  • [Solved] 30th Anniversary CA-X Amp Sim FX Chains No Longer Work with TH3 3.4.9?

Can anyone confirm, if you're using TH3 3.4.9?

  1. Load the Rock and Blues > Hard Rock TH3 FX Chain from the 30th Anniversary CA-X Amp Sims.
  2. Double-click on the TH3 label underneath the FX Chain to open it.
  3. Turn the FX Chain Drive Control. The Volume control in TH3 is supposed to move, but doesn't.
  4. Click the Bass Boost control. It's supposed to change the amp Bass control setting, but it doesn't change.

If I create a new FX Chain with TH3, I can assign an FX Chain control to some amp parameters but if I have two amps (e.g., for a parallel connection) I can assign an FX Chain control to one or the other, but if you assign it to one amp, then you can't control the other amp.

Anyway, if you use the 30th Anniversary CA-X amps, I'd advise not updating to TH3 3.4.9 until someone can confirm that this is, or is not, happening on only my system.

I'm not sure if the 3.4.9 update is at fault here.

I'm running 3.4.2, and the FX Chain Drive Control says it's connected to TH3 (vst3) - Chorus Amount. The bass boost button is connected to TH3 (vst3) - Chorus Dry.

If I manually change it to the correct controls, they work.

So maybe it was an earlier update that corrupted the mapping?

I'll try it again once I've upgraded to 3.4.9 to see if remapping the controls still works, but it looks like the mapping is not right as it is.

Im on TH3 3.4.5 and it doesnt move any controls in TH3 even on this version for me. Could be I'm doing something wrong but following your guide Hard Rock TH3 doesnt seem to be controlling anything. Hope that helps Craig.

If you right click on the FX Chain Control, and select "Edit Control" what TH3 parameter does it say it's controlling?

Like I said in my earlier post, mine is saying "TH3 (vst3) - Chorus Amount" which doesn't change any visible controls.

Thanks for the data. So I'm not sure where the problem lies, but I'll make sure Cakewalk knows about it.

We're able to repro and are investigating what is causing this. Its also happening in Platinum fwiw.

I don't know how to make these presets work period. The whole thing is a mystery to me and can't find any step by steps to help.

You insert them like this, and use them like any other VST effect:

You can also insert them into the ProChannel:
