  • Is there a way to map a midi controller to perform tap tempo?

I have a Behringer floor board and I would like to program a button on the Behringer to act as a tap tempo. From what I can tell this is not possible, but I'm hoping I'm missing something...

OT: Just play it freestyle like you wanna then drag your audio track to the timeline to make sonar conform a tempo map and grid to your playing.

Or Tap on Sonar's Tempo button with your mouse button/spacebar.

It works in TH3 on certain plugins. Check the Global Midi Bindings Section under the Midi drop-down.

Idk if the suits you. It's not the same as tapping the tempo of the project. that would be a nice trick.

Not sure which "Tempo button" was mentioned and what is the goal.

If that is inserting/replacing tempo change dialog, focus should be positioned on the button and then you need to imitate "space" computer keyboard key to tap. AZ Controller can do that (open dialog, change focus, send spaces, click "Ok" then).

But if the goal is to define already existing material tempo by tapping in parallel, you just need to record a midi track tapping at each beat (the button should send any "note") and then "Process/Fit improvisation".

I want to play to a drum track for most of my stuff, but this is a helpful tip and I'll experiment with it - thank you!

Sorry guys, let me be more clear.

Say I'm jamming on guitar and I dial my delay in just where I like it so I am playing rhythmically with my delay. Say it's an analog delay like my Echoplex so there is no firm temp indicator anywhere.

I want to tap a foot switch on the Behringer to set the tempo of the project to match what I'm playing - so I that when I start recording (another footswitch) the drums etc of the project are playing at the tempo I want to record at.

Some sort of clock device or indeed use sonar to react to the mtc in some way.

Not helpful at all man - that's what I'm trying to figure out...

It was a half-thought. Sorry on my phone.
