Sorry if this is asked every other day. 
 
My requirement is to run Sonar using two different audio device connection "maps". I would like to be able to work on projects at home using a 2-channel USB output device. At rehearsals and gigs, the audio device is a 16-channel mixer connected via USB.
 
So if I have a project running on the mixer, I have Sonar tracks routed to several channels, but at home that device is missing and I have to manually re-assign all the outputs to my 2-channel interface, which is tedious at best.
 
What's the best way to handle going back and forth between two output device setups? I didn't see a way to save/load output maps, or maybe I missed it? Separate projects seems like it would be a headache.

I guess no one moves between two I/O setups with their projects? Well my workaround is to just have a 2 copies of my projects folder with a different I/O configuration in each one. Kind of a pain because of having to maintain 2 versions of projects whenever an edit is made. Otherwise, if I launch a project, I lose all my I/O settings and they are reassigned and it's even more time-consuming to change all of those back and forth. *shrug*

Wait, I see something about using "friendly" driver names to make this work. I see plenty of references to friendly driver names in the setup dialogs, but not one clue as to how to create them. :-(
 
EDIT: Oh, "Click on a friendly name to edit it" Well that's not strictly necessary. Checking the "Use friendly names to represent audio drivers" box should activate this feature. 
 

Check "Use friendly names..." in preferences, then double-click on the items in the "Friendly Names" column to edit.
