Hi all I am wanting information as to how I go about's deactivating my Cakewalk Sonar software. II am wanting to sell the software & feel I will need to deactivate the software before being able to do so. I would appreciate any information as to how I can go about doing this please.

I think the EULA says it is not transferable.  In other words, if you broke that contract and sold it, the new buyer could not register it and could not receive updates.

BTW - you checked agreeing to that stipulation when you first installed Sonar.

In the EU I think the courts have decided that an EULA that states that is unenforceable so you are entitled to sell on software or am I confusing this with what they said about MS Windows!
Not sure if that would really help as you can't transfer the license via Cakewalk anyway.

It doesn't matter. Per Space Cowboy's comment, it is my understanding that while the sale itself may be legal in the EU, there is nothing requiring Cakewalk to recognize or fulfill the transfer. Sell it. The new user is still not registered. You are.
(Edit) - Smiling Crow beat me to it.

I don't care for the law but I do care that Cakewalk aren't ripped off so it's a matter of personal ethics I suppose.

TBH even if you could sell/transfer the licence, which AFAIK you can't, I'm not sure that you're going to find too many willing buyers of X1 anyway.

That's a good point. X1 was a rough patch.

To the OP,
The EULA does clearly state the software can not be re-sold.
The wording in the EULA is basically.... "you didn't buy the software, you merely paid to use it".

A lot of people don't always look in to purchase agreements when buying software so its an honest mistake.

The problem is that in Europe this type of agreement has been ruled invalid. So a user CAN legally sell it, irrespective of the agreement. However there is no corresponding obligation for the software developer to recognize that sale or to register the new owner. It is the original buyer who sold it to the new buyer, not the developer.
