Just to be clear... we can no longer include audio tracks in the PRV track list? I used to use that a lot but can't seem to do it now.

Go to: PRV options/View/ Show Audio tracks. you have to turn audio tracks on.
By default it is off.
*Note: The PRV option are on the top left of the PRV in the MultiDock

OK, I have played around with this but I never see the audio track, even if I follow the advice to "Show Audio Track," and even when the audio track is the only PRV track selected on the right hand track selector. 
 
What is it supposed to show me?  I assumed I would see the waveform somehow (transparent maybe) behind the MIDI notes so I could line everything up better.  Does it really do that and, if so how?
 
If it doesn't do that, what DOES it do?  Can someone post a screenshot?

It doesn't show anything in the work space. It simply lists the track in the list. You can choose to list it or not. I want them there because I'm constantly soloing, muting, freezing and unfreezing associated tracks while editing in PRV. For me it would be great to have a freeze button as well.

Same as Soens, I mute+solo, exc in the PRV with Audio tracks. sometimes to synch midi tracks to audio tracks (when editing midi tracks).
If you are not seeing the audio tracks in PRV even after you have selected the option in PRV/view menu then try the PRV filter settings in the PRV's Track pane.

For lining things up I use the Track View and just hit D to toggle B&F.
