Hi,
I just got my first bundle of plugins for Sonar.
Does anyone have experience with Big Kick, or something like it?
The description (there's no actual "instructions") says to find all your kick drum folders and register/assign them in Big Kick. But, they can only be .wav (or one other format I can't remember at the moment).

When I look through the Cakewalk folders for SI-Drums, Addictive Drums, Dope VST Beat Machine ect, none of the folders contain sounds/files in these two formats.

Am I missing something? I hope so. I'd be disappointed if the plugin was limited to files I don't have.

Also, how do you use Big Kick in general? Do you give it a bus and blend it in through an FX Send? Does it get it's own track as an Instrument?

As always, all information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I use Kickbox and have been very happy. The presets are great and I feel the kick in my chest that it shapes.

I wasn't familiar with Big Kick, so looked it up.  According to the SOS review, there should be factory presets.

Edit:  Okay highlandermak beat me to it (and confirms the factory presets).

Factory sounds? Possibly Not. I have no idea what to expect from Big Kick nor how to operate it.
It's totally possible that I did not install it properly.
Suggestions?

The product page description has some info:

Also check out the review links at the bottom of the page.  You might be able to pick up some basics.

BigKick has it's own sounds, a lot of them.  Plus there are expansions you can buy.  It's a soft synth, but one that ONLY does kick drums.  Add it to a project and click on the File button at the bottom, you'll see the Factory presets and any add-ons you bought and installed.  I got a couple with it, but I can't remember if that was some sort of special deal.  Each preset has a bunch of kicks that you can pick/cycle through using the drop down near the top of UI (use the next/prev buttons also)

As far as triggering it goes, just send it any MIDI note and it will play a kick.

There is also a manual:
http://www.credland.net/bigkickuserguide/

(if you press the info button it has a link to the manual page)

it has some features so you can make a synth-generated kick and you can use your own samples as well, though I've never bothered to try making my own.  Check the manual to start with, I think it will answer most of your questions.

Thanks guys!
I'm still confused, lol, but I did finally find the presets!
It's funny, I can fumble my way around pretty good with Sonar. But then comes along something that's supposed to be stupid-ly "easy", and I can't figure it out to save my life!
The presets are NOT at the top of the plugin, like most Sonar stuff. It's at the bottom in the Master section, kindly labeled Next and Previous. No mention of the word Preset or Preset Manager as the instructions describe.
So, I guess the next task is to figure out how to utilize it all.
Thanks everyone!
Have a killer day!
