Hi - Running SONAR Artist on a new Dell w Windows 10. Bought the Tascam about 3 months ago and it worked great. Usually this computer is DAW only (even keep it offline) but in a moment of weakness I let my son play an online game with it. Within an hour the sound was distorting and when I rebooted I could no longer select the Tascam as my audio device. Reloaded the driver from the Tascam site and still nothing. Problem seems to be that my computer is no longer finding the Tascam as a device. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

If you have FL Studio installed, uninstall FL Asio and reinstall the Tascam driver. That was my problem.

Although this might not help (since you have some distorted sound), try this:

1- shut down Computer
2- unplug USB cable
3- restart Computer
5- plug in USB cable
6- check sound

I had a Tascam interface at one time (now use Focusrite) and it would not even produce sound unless I powered up then plugged in the USB cable.  Like I said, it might not help . . . but give it a try.  Also if the game got installed by your son, remove it from the computer.

Another thought is restore from a previous date (if using windows), hopefully not too far in the past (unless you set your restore point on a schedule).

Thanks for the suggestions. I figured it out.

In case anyone else runs into the same problem: I reloaded the newest driver for the US-2x2, which was just released last week, but it won't run on my system (Windows 10). Uninstalled it and reloaded next newest driver (released March 2017) and everything works fine.

First of all, thanks for circling back with helpful info.

I'm using the latest driver with Windows 10 Creators and a US-4x4, which is the same from a driver standpoint. I think there's something else going on with your system, but I'm glad you got it working. The issue may have involved a sample rate change, or possibly a Windows internal sound / ASIO sound conflict...I dunno.

After the next Windows update, consider trying the new driver again (also make sure the firmware is up to date).
