I've seen this happen as well. Very inconsistent so not easy to reproduce.

Can't really do anything about it other than record the take again

For folks having this problem consistently, I wonder what would happen if you recorded your take on 2 tracks simultaneously? Would they both disappear?

I've been having this issue lately also. One thing I did notice, is after the waveform disappears, if you click the EDIT pulldown, the recording is in the History. It gives you the option to UNDO the recording. I haven't checked the audio files though, so I'm not sure if it's actually recording. I will check that next time.

As I mentioned earlier, but perhaps a little “wordily”....

When this happens, check your take lanes. It’s possible that the recording is on a take that is not showing for some reason (such as it is muted).

Interesting; I'll chk the take lanes next time, but this has been going on in SPLAT as well it just seemd to happen more often now then before.

I have found a way to reproduce the situation I am having with the recording disappearing.
It may have something to do with templates and / or  BIAS FX or BIAS AMP.

1. Make a simple template track - starting with empty track, just add an audio track and save it as a template.
2. Start a new project using your new template and add BIAS FX or BIAS AMP to your audio track.
3. Record - it disappears after you hit stop. Just the first time. If you don't add BIAS there doesn't seem to be a problem. There is nothing in take lanes, undo, or history to say you have ever recorded.

I haven't tried this with too many other effects, TH3 seems to work fine.

Cakewalk, Windows, and BIAS are all up to date.

The new update does nothing to solve this problem.

There seems to be something a little different about just adding an audio track to a blank project and setting the input, than doing the same thing in a template.

Any of the BIAS amp/FX products do not record the first time if added to the track. Any time other than the first time seems fine. I have not tried too many other effects to see how they react, but most seem good.
It seems like it may be a bit of bad behavior on the part of BIAS but I don't think Cakewalk is reacting to the problem very well either. It would be far kinder to give you an error message than happily pretend to record your track, which it does now.

The same behavior is in Sonar X3.

It would just be nice to have a template starting up with all your instruments having inputs and tracks, ready to go, but it doesn't seem that this is 100% reliable.

Otherwise, what a great program!

I started a thread earlier today about this same problem and didn't see this thread when searchinging.

Parboo12, I too am using BIAS FX and have been creating amp sim rigs w/ BIAS which I've been saving as super convenient templates, which I then insert into other sessions AND those temple tracks, almost always w/ an instance of BIAS FX, are the tracks I've been recording on and having the audio clip dissappearing problem. And yeah, the clip dissappearing almost always happens the very first time recording, but now it's randomly happening other times too. For me when the clip disappears there's no trace of it in take lanes, folder, history... nothing, just like it never happened, but I saw the waveform drawing...

Yes, this happened to me yesterday. I play through two amp sims simultaneously so I record on those two respective tracks simultaneously and yesterday after a test recording one track vanished and the other track stayed. I recorded again on both tracks and this time both tracks stayed. Wtf man. I've been considering switching daws because of this but now I'm not sure where the problem really is. Cakewalk template issue or BIAS issue w/ cakewalk or both? And I know not everyone who is having this problem is using BIAS (I don't think).
