That didn't work either, reinstalled the entire platform 3 times and Session Drummer 3 is still MIA, except in the project I already had it in. Works fine and dandy there. I'm done. Hey Cakewalk, how about a refund for the X3 upgrade that caused all this misery?

It's not being recognized by X2 either from the X2 download folder. X3 is gone. BTW, the VST scanner craps out now too.

Did you remove the X3 Session Drummer before attempting to install an older version? If not, the Session Drummer 3 from X3 is still there. The X2 installer will not overwrite the newer version.

If I did a complete uninstall of X3, wouldn't it remove everything?

Check the date on the Session Drummer dll. If it is newer than 2012, it came from X3.

Thanks, will look at that tomorrow. I did notice a slight difference in the filepath between the working instance in the one project and in attempts to load it in a new project: vst vs. Vst.

Mystery solved. SD3 is loaded from the vst menu and is listed there as simply "Session Drummer", even though there's a discrete listing for SD2 from my S6 PE installation. I was expecting it to be listed by its particular version, but it isn't.

Even more confusing, the original Session Drummer was called Session Drummer, then there was 2, then Session Drummer.
