I haven't installed the latest but will wait if there's an issue not being able to select a track in track view. I do most of my work in track view.
The more I think about it that's a pretty major thing if one is unable to select a track. Will this be fixed soon?

About selecting a track, I found that you can drag select and it works nicely even if you let go of the mouse click and start another selection without even pressing ctrl you can drag select another section and repeat this and everthing stays selected. When you want to deselect everything just click somewhere in the track pane. As for selecting only one track, as mentioned somewhere you might have to increase track size and I think you still have to click the bottom of the number.

Need clarification on this.  We would not have shipped with something fundamentally broken like that so it's not a general issue across all configurations.

Track selection is working here as is making strips active, all from the Track View.

You can make strips active by clicking the name control or the icon (if not a synth) or empty space on the track.

Clicking the name does select the track as the active track(nice to know), but not the icon or the empty space and even clicking the number does the same thing, the number just does not turn orange without the workarounds, I think some people may not realize when they click the number to make it "light up" it is selecting the content of the track such as a waveform or midi clips.  but just to make a track active so you can play a softsynth or something is not the same.  Don't quote me because I don't remember how it used to work now. this is just my current observation of how it works.

One thing that could certainly use improvement for selecting is, when a clip is Copy-ied to the clipboard, it would be handy if Right-Clicking on a track or Take Lane where there isn't a clip should simply and automatically select that Track/Lane as the destination for the Paste. Then to determine whether the cursor or the NowTime dictates where the Paste-d clip appears on the selected Track/Lane. I can't count the number of times I've pasted a clip in a Track/Lane I thought was selected.

I'm still seeing some of the mouse pointer issues.  I ended up rolling back to 2017.05 because Sonar was locking up on me.  We'll see what next month brings.

As you see, and as I mentioned before, with the tracks collapsed, they are not selectable by clicking the number area. When you open or expand the track then normal behavior resumes. Although you can see group selecting is possible dragging across several tracks even if they are collapsed. But yea, something is off here after the April update.

2017.06 // i see no fix too

it's not about pointer itself (so forget about mouse vendors/drivers), there must be a "control layer" (watching where your pointer is, where you click etc - something like a virtual map above the GUI) and now, for some reason, some objects of this layer are too bold and overlap other important objects.
May be the reason is newly presented touchscreen support, if yes this will be a lesson to Cakewalk: every OPTIONAL (touchscreen is OPTIONAL for most users) function must be separated from core (mouse/touchpad support is a core function for every PRO DAW) or switchable.

Anyway we need a fix and please before 2017.7 :)
