Hi.

I recently got X3(b) Installed.   And WDM drivers are pretty useless on it.  Dropout city.   They work splendidly on 8.5 and I've never ever had an issue with 60+ tracks and millions of plug-ins.   Anyway, I switched to ASIO and performance seemed good on X3.  However only 2 Ins and 1 out were showing up in the drivers panel in Sonar.

I reinstalled the 2.01 drivers from Roland's site and now I've got ZERO I/O for ASIO appearing.  And several instances of 'midi devices not set up correctly' ... I renamed AUD.INI so Sonar would build a new one.. but that didn't seem to help anything.

I've got 1.30 firmware on the console and rack and Fantom.
Several reboots, and restarts of the hardware.
Nothing seems to help.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Oh, and the ASIO driver applet does appear in control panel.

are you using the vs700 rack only? if so use the 2.0 drivers (2.01 are for expansion with the octa-capture). some had issues with 2.01 with the rack alone.

Not sure it will help with your issue though...

Thanks for the reply.

Just the 700R and 700C here.

The 2.01 drivers seem to thoroughly outperform the previous drivers.   It's dropping or 'hiccuping' only occasionally now (WDM).
Turns out that the 'MIDI Drivers not set up'  messages were due to a FUBAR'd Fantom.  I managed to cure that with much gnashing of teeth and some posts on this forum.  (deleting the fantom VS directory from the cakewalk vst folder, doing the registry hack, and reinstalling the Fantom/ARX latest)

Anyway, I still have no ASIO.  But I'm surviving on WDM now..  I'm kinda bummed because of crappy performance even with much longer latency/buffering.  The symptoms now.. Sonar plays fine for 40 seconds or so (CPU/HDD/RAM guages all very low), then I get the 'hiccup' along with a pegging of the CPU indicator in Sonar.  This seems very strange.

Any suggestions?

What is your operating system and are you using 32 or 64 bit.
I am running the same computer as you i7920 and it flies here for me and is very stable.
I have 48gig ram though.

Win 7 home premium.  64 bit.

RAM/CPU/HDD all nearly idle until it hiccups.
