I love the variety of SI drum kits in Cakewalk Music Creator 6...but some of them sound a little muffled, like they were sampled in a closed off room.

How do I achieve more crisp and clarity in those drum kits, to make them more clear and bring consistency among my instruments?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

with drums, I almost always use an EQ in the track FX bin to shape the sound a bit. I find the same thing, that the kits often need some low and high end to make them fit the mix

Oh, the Equalizer! Of course, how could I forget?

For that matter -- for someone who's never tinkered with the various dials of the Equalizer, what's the simplest way you could guide on how to adjust for bass/treble/clarity?

Thanks again.

I use the cakewalk ParaQ (I think that's the name)...and simply drag the 4 nodes in it to where I think it sounds the best.

It's all done by listening and adjusting the bands a bit at a time. Then save it as a preset with a new name.

You might also want just a touch of reverb(preferably on a bus).
Some of those kits are deliberately dry, to allow you more control.
